Working in a fast paced express traffic planning environment, scheduling deliveries and collections for the day ahead. Predominantly planning the vehicle allocation, truck routes and service requirement of 175 consignments during the night. Assisting in the management of a night fleet of 25+ network trunk vehicles through the night to ensure all commitments and schedules are met with the highest standards of operational efficiency.
Making and receiving calls, managing enquiries and emails. Vehicle and consignment planning, data entry, manifesting and consignment supervision. Managing vehicle and driver schedules, booking agency drivers and ensuring appropriate and full inductions are carried out before any drivers commence work including all agency staff. Warehouse support including scanning of freight, raising of pallet discrepancies, labelling freight, organising and coordinating drivers loading/unloading of vehicles using forklift, site, freight and vehicle security etc, with Health and Safety always as the highest priority. Daily and weekly reporting, communication, development and focus on service excellence with on-going improvement in overall operational speed/efficiency.
Strong communication, computer and truck planning skills, forklift licence and ability to multi-task combined with a pro-active, calm, professional and adaptable approach to varying vehicle schedules and changing conditions. Pallet or parcel network experience ideal and previous transport planning experience is essential with a solid geographical knowledge of Essex, Hertfordshire and Cambridge.
